Welcome!

The Pursuing Addiction and Trauma Healing Lab (PATH Lab) develops and improves treatments for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and co-occurring substance use disorders (SUDs). We are particularly invested in modifying treatments to minoritized groups in society, like women and racial/ethnic minorities, and expanding our understanding of psychological trauma.

Our primary project is a NIDA-funded K23 award to modify and test an integrated psychosocial treatment for individuals with opioid use disorder and co-occurring PTSD.

What is Trauma?

"Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape, or natural disaster. Immediately after the event, shock and denial are typical. Longer term reactions include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships, and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea."
